DTCCU offers a wide variety of training classes at its local facility. Classes in basic canine manners, (the foundation courses in puppy kindergarten, puppy elementary, home companion and sub-novice) and classes that prepare handlers and their dogs to compete in agility, obedience, and rally obedience are offered four times a year.
Other classes, usually short courses in tracking, animal-assisted therapy, tricks, clicker work, earthdog, and freestyle are offered as time and demand permit.
"if you think dogs can't count, try putting three dog biscuits in your pocket and then giving Fido only two of them."
Phil Pastoret
Classes are limited to small enrollments (8-12 dog-handler teams) and many fill quickly, so enrolling early is advised. The registrar maintains a waiting list for popular classes. Unless otherwise noted, courses run for eight weeks and last 45-60 minutes.
Not all classes are offered every semester. Please check our schedule page for complete information.
