Beginning Novice
Prerequisite: Sub-Novice with approval of Sub-Novice instructor or "qualifying" score at a match in Sub-Novice.

Advanced Novice

This class is geared at preparing dogs (and handlers) for obedience competition at the Novice level. Dogs should already be fairly comfortable with all novice exercises. This class will focus on perfecting and practicing the novice exercises, including; heeling (on leash and off leash), stand for exam, recall, and stays. This class will contain lots of proofing and introduction of some Open level exercises.

Dogs should be able to work off-leash around other dogs. Beginning Open will focus on teaching dogs the foundation skills needed for Open level obedience. Skills taught include; retrieving, jumping skills, advanced heel work, and drop-on-recall.

Dogs should already be comfortable with all Open exercises. This class will focus on perfecting and practicing the open exercises, including; off leash heeling, drop on recall, retrieve on flat and over high jump, broad jump, and out of sight stays.

Proof and prepare for Open competition. Focus on run throughs and fine tuning specific exercises each week. No specific instruction on training the exercises. High student participation in calling each other through the run-throughs as well as critiquing each other.

Utility

Utility exercises include signal exercises (teaching the dog to respond to signal commands instead of voice commands), scent discrimination, directed retrieve, the moving stand exercise, go-outs and directed jumping.
